This year the Saint Brigid's entered both the track events and field events at Santry. On both days the children great success.

                                  Field Events

On the day of the field events Saint Brigid's athletes competed in the shot putt, hurdles, 500 metres, long jump and high jump. Considering many of our athletes were only entering these events for their first time, our success rate was high. Both Darragh McKenna and Max Trigub made through to the finals of the hurdles, displaying great natural jumping abilities. Both missed out on a place in the medals by the slimmest of margins.
In the shot putt Alex Power and Catherine O Connor put in strong performances in a competitive field. In the high jump Peter Germaine, who had never jumped in competition before showed real talent and almost secured a medal.
Medals did come however in the 500 metres. In the girls u-11 girls 500m Nicola Duffy powered her way to a silver medal and in his race Robert O Farrell pounced from 12th postion with 250 metres to go to finish in a strong 2nd place.
In the high jump Sarah Lynott was impressive and was so close to a gold medal. She actually tied for first, but a missed attempt from an earlier round meant she had to settle for silver this time.
Well done to all the children who took part in the field events in Santry this year. Donnacha Ryan, Shane Carolan, Wolfgang Mokake, Luke Danaher, Alex Griffin, Emma O Connell, Charlotte Murphy, Raoul Masterson and Leah O Reilly.
