                                  Picture
On the 17th of July 1864 Archbishop Cullen laid the foundation stone of a new schoolhouse in Castleknock. Initially it was a two teacher co-educational school. The original register is still in the school archives.

This new building replaced the thatched house, which had been used as the school. On the 8th of May, 1865, teachers and pupils moved into the new school although the building was not finally completed until the 3rd of July.

On St. Brigid's Feast Day, February 1st, 1971, we moved to our present building - a new 8 teacher school. The school grew rapidly and in 1980 and 1986 new buildings were added on to replace the prefabs in use.

At present, we have 40 teachers on our staff and 825 pupils. This large staff includes principal, vice-principal, 29 class teachers, 7 learning support teachers and 2 language support teachers.

Our main aim is to challenge, stimulate and encourage each pupil to reach their full potential in an environment where children and teachers are secure and happy.
